The Story

The Yellow Bird takes its name and color from Galliano, the vanilla-and-anise Italian liqueur that turns an otherwise ordinary rum sour a bright, unmistakable yellow. It became a fixture of Caribbean resort bars by the mid-20th century and has stayed there since, official enough that the International Bartenders Association still lists it among its recognized cocktails.
