Bright lemon and orange over clean, light rum. Tart, crisp, and balanced.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz White Rum
  • 0.75 oz Orange Liqueur
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Lemon twist · optional garnish

Method

    Add the white rum, orange liqueur, and lemon juice to a shaker with ice.

    Shake until well-chilled.

    Strain into a chilled coupe glass.

    Garnish with a lemon twist.

The Story

The XYZ is a rum cousin of the Sidecar, named as the last in the alphabet, as if no cocktail could follow it. It appears in Prohibition-era recipe books and is a simple way to enjoy light rum in a classic sour.
