Vodka Martini
ClassicIBA OfficialCold, clean, and to the point.
Crisp and clean. Neutral vodka lets the dry vermouth's faint herbal whisper and the citrus oils of the twist do the defining, all served punishingly cold.
Ingredients
- 2.5 oz Vodka
- 0.5 oz Dry Vermouth
- Lemon twist or olives · optional garnish
Method
- 1
Add the vodka and dry vermouth to a mixing glass with ice.
- 2
Stir until thoroughly chilled, about 30 seconds (shake instead if you prefer it colder and a touch cloudy).
- 3
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- 4
Garnish with a lemon twist or olives.
The Story
As vodka overtook gin in mid-century America, the Martini template adapted to the times. Ian Fleming's James Bond sealed its fame with a signature order — though "shaken, not stirred" remains heresy to purists, who insist stirring keeps the drink silky and crystal clear. However you take it, the appeal is the same: bracingly cold, and stripped to essentials.
