Vodka Gimlet

Ingredients

• 2 oz Vodka
• 0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
• 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
• Lime wheel · optional garnish

Method

   Shake the vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup with ice until well chilled.

   Double-strain into a chilled coupe.

   Garnish with a lime wheel.

The Story

The Gimlet began as gin and lime cordial, a ration-era fix credited to the British Navy. When vodka swept American bars in the mid-twentieth century, it slid neatly into the template. Some bartenders still reach for lime cordial; the fresh-lime-and-simple version here is brighter and cleaner, letting the vodka read as crisp rather than sweet.
