The Story
Tipperary belongs to the same early-20th-century family as the Bijou and the Last Word — a spirit-forward stirred drink built around green Chartreuse's herbal intensity — but swaps in Irish whiskey for gin, giving it a softer, rounder backbone than its French-monastery-liqueur siblings usually get. It takes its name from the Irish county, more a nod in spirit than a documented origin story, and has stayed on the International Bartenders Association's list as one of the few Irish whiskey cocktails with real pedigree.
