The Story
Ti' Punch — Creole French for "small punch" — is Martinique's everyday drink, ordered at the bar with the ingredients set out separately so each person builds their own to taste: rhum agricole, a squeeze of lime, and a splash of cane syrup, nothing else. It's often called the island's answer to the Old Fashioned, built on the same logic of a spirit barely diluted, but rhum agricole's grassy, vegetal character — distilled from fresh cane juice rather than molasses — makes it taste like nothing else in the rum world.
