The Story
The Spicy Margarita has no single inventor — it emerged from the 2000s cocktail revival as bartenders began muddling fresh chili into the classic margarita, and exploded into one of the most-ordered drinks in America. Its rise tracks the broader appetite for heat in cocktails, and nearly every modern bar now offers a version. It is proof that a small tweak can eclipse the original in popularity.
