Tart and refreshing. Plummy sloe-berry fruit brightened by lemon and lengthened by soda — lightly sweet, fizzy, and pale pink.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Sloe Gin
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
  • Soda Water to top
  • Lemon wheel · optional garnish
  • cherry · optional garnish

Method

    Add the sloe gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker with ice.

    Shake until well-chilled.

  3. 3

    Strain over fresh ice in a highball glass and top with soda water.

    Garnish with a lemon wheel and a cherry.

The Story

A late-1800s fizz built on sloe gin — a ruby liqueur made by steeping tart sloe berries in gin. It rode a wave of popularity through the 1970s, when its blush color and low-proof ease made it a bar staple.
