Rum Runner
ClassicTwo rums, blackberry and banana liqueurs, pineapple, and lime. A Florida Keys party drink.
Fruity, lush, and tropical. Pineapple and banana lead, blackberry adds a dark jammy depth, and the two rums keep it from tasting like pure punch. Lime and grenadine pull the sweetness into balance.

The Story
The Rum Runner is a Florida Keys original, said to have been invented at the Holiday Isle Tiki Bar in Islamorada as a way to use up surplus bottles of rum and liqueurs. Whether or not the story is exactly true, the result became a vacation-bar staple: fruity, strong, and deceptively easy to drink. The name nods to the Prohibition-era boats that ran rum into Florida.
