The Story
Created in 1894 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York to mark the premiere of a Broadway operetta about the Scottish folk hero Rob Roy MacGregor. It is, in essence, a Manhattan built on Scotch instead of rye — proof that a great template travels, and that a single swap of base spirit can give a familiar drink a whole new accent.
