The Story
The Presbyterian is an old-fashioned highball made with whisky, ginger ale, and soda water, popular in the early 20th century. Its origins are murky, and the name is usually said to be a gentle joke about the Presbyterian temperance of a long, well-diluted drink. Some recipes use Scotch, others bourbon or rye; the drink's appeal is simple, unfussy refreshment.
