The Story
The Pendennis Club takes its name from the private gentlemen's club of the same name in Louisville, Kentucky, where it was created around 1911 — one of several classic drinks the club's bar is credited with, alongside the Old Fashioned itself. The original spec used dry vermouth in place of the bitters; by the time Charles H. Baker recorded it in his 1939 guide, Peychaud's had taken over, and that's the version that stuck.
