Bright and tart with a rosy sweetness from grenadine, laced with baking-spice bitters over crisp agave.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Blanco Tequila
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.5 oz Grenadine
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Soda Water to top
  • Lime wheel · optional garnish

Method

    Shake the tequila, lime juice, grenadine, and bitters with ice.

    Strain into an ice-filled highball glass.

    Top with a splash of soda water.

    Garnish with a lime wheel.

Recorded by Charles H. Baker Jr. at the bar of the Hotel Regis in Mexico City in 1937, the Mexican Firing Squad is a tequila Daisy in all but name — sharp lime and grenadine snapped into focus by aromatic bitters.
