Margarita
ClassicIBA OfficialSalt, citrus, agave. Bright by design.
Bright, tart, and clean, built on blanco tequila's crisp agave and white-pepper bite. Fresh lime brings a sharp citrus snap, orange liqueur rounds it with just enough sweetness, and a rim of flaky salt lifts every sip. The interplay of salt, sour, and sweet is the whole magic.

The Story
"Margarita" is Spanish for "daisy," and that is very likely what it began as: the tequila entry in the Daisy family — a spirit brightened with citrus and orange liqueur — that bartenders had been building since the 1800s. Its exact author is one of cocktail history's great unsettled arguments, claimed by a Tijuana restaurateur pouring for a 1930s showgirl, a Texas socialite mixing for guests in Acapulco, and half a dozen others besides. What isn't disputed is the result: by the 1950s the Margarita had crossed into American bars, and today it is the best-selling cocktail in the United States — proof that three well-balanced ingredients rarely need improving.
