Sharp and clean. Bracing fresh lime and a touch of orange sweetness over neutral vodka — crisp, dry, and bracingly tart.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • 0.75 oz Triple Sec
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • Lime wheel · optional garnish

Method

    Add the vodka, triple sec, and lime juice to a shaker with ice.

    Shake until well-chilled.

    Strain into a chilled coupe.

    Garnish with a lime wheel.

The Story

An American bar staple that rose to fame in the 1970s, first as a slammed shot and later as a proper stirred-down cocktail. Equal parts vodka, orange liqueur, and lime, it's the tart, no-nonsense cousin of the Margarita and the blueprint the Cosmopolitan later built on.
