Method

Fill a highball glass with ice.

Add the vodka, then top with fresh grapefruit juice.

Stir briefly and garnish with a grapefruit wedge.
The Story
A simple mid-century highball that appeared in Harry Craddock-era recipe books and was named, so the story goes, for the bus-line lunch counters where it was poured. Rim the glass with salt and you have its saltier sibling, the Salty Dog.
