- Cocktail onions · optional garnish
Method
- 1

Garnish with a pair of cocktail onions.
The Story
A dry gin Martini distinguished by a single detail — pickled cocktail onions in place of an olive or a twist. The origin is disputed (the illustrator Charles Dana Gibson is one popular candidate), but the effect isn't: the briny onion turns a crisp Martini savory, giving it an umami edge that drinks almost like a snack.
