Final Ward
ClassicRye, green Chartreuse, maraschino, and lemon. The Last Word, rewritten in whiskey.
Herbal, sharp, and a little sweet. Green Chartreuse's alpine botanicals lead, with maraschino's nutty cherry sweetness and bright lemon, all held together by rye's peppery spice. Bold, complex, and strikingly pale for how much flavor it carries.

The Story
The Final Ward was created by bartender Phil Ward in 2009 at Death & Co in New York. It is built on the equal-parts Last Word, with rye whiskey in place of gin and lemon in place of lime — a swap that turns the herbal, sharp original into something rounder and spicier. It quickly became one of the most-ordered modern classics, and its name nods to both its creator and its place in the Last Word family.
