The Story
The Coronation appeared in the early 1900s, one of several drinks christened for a royal coronation of the era. A cousin of the Bamboo, it dresses the sherry-and-dry-vermouth base with a quarter-ounce of maraschino and orange bitters. Hugo Ensslin recorded it in his 1916 manual, and the modern low-proof movement rescued it from a century of obscurity.
