The Story
The Canchánchara is a rustic Cuban drink from the Sancti Spíritus region, said to date to the 19th-century wars of independence, when fighters mixed local aguardiente with honey and lime. Traditionally it is served in a small clay cup, and in modern bars it is made with white rum. Some call it an ancestor of the Daiquiri, though that link is more legend than record.
