Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Cognac
  • 4 oz Hot Coffee
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Orange twist · optional garnish

Method

    Warm the glass by filling it with hot water, then discard.

    Add the sugar and hot coffee and stir until dissolved.

    Add the Cognac and stir gently.

    Garnish with an orange twist.

The Story

Café Royal, or Café Royale, is a French way of finishing a meal: hot black coffee fortified with Cognac or brandy and sweetened with sugar. It is the elegant cousin of Irish Coffee, without the cream.
