Bright lemon and gentle sweetness over soft, fruity brandy, lifted by bubbles. Crisp, light, and easy to drink.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Brandy
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.75 oz Simple Syrup
  • 2 oz Soda Water
  • Lemon wheel · optional garnish

Method

    Add the brandy, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker with ice.

    Shake until well-chilled.

    Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice.

    Top with the soda water and garnish with a lemon wheel.

The Story

Fizzes were a fixture of nineteenth-century American bars, and the formula of spirit, citrus, sugar, and soda was applied to everything from gin to brandy. The brandy version is softer and fruitier than the better-known Gin Fizz.
