Rich and velvety. Warm cognac folded into chocolatey crème de cacao and silky cream, dusted with nutmeg — decadent, smooth, and unabashedly sweet.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Cognac
  • 1 oz Dark Crème de Cacao
  • 1 oz Heavy Cream
  • Grated nutmeg · optional garnish

Method

  1. 1

Add the cognac, dark crème de cacao, and cream to a shaker with ice.

  2. 2

Shake hard until well-chilled and frothy.

  3. 3

    Double-strain into a chilled coupe.

  4. 4

    Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.

The Story

An early-1900s creation that swapped the gin of the original Alexander for cognac — and never looked back. A favorite of John Lennon, who called it his "milkshake," it's the after-dinner drink dressed as dessert.
