Blue Margarita
ClassicThe Margarita, with blue curaçao standing in for the orange.
Bright, tart, and clean. Blanco tequila and fresh lime give the familiar Margarita snap, while blue curaçao supplies the orange sweetness — the same role triple sec plays, only vividly blue. Balanced and refreshing, with an optional salt rim for contrast.

Method
- 1
Rim a margarita glass with salt, if desired, and fill with ice.

Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lime wheel.
The Story
The Blue Margarita is the classic tequila sour with one substitution: blue curaçao in place of the usual triple sec. Because both are orange liqueurs, the drink tastes like a Margarita and simply looks like the ocean — a bit of 1980s bar theatre that never went away. It rides the same balance of tequila, orange, and lime that made the original one of the most-ordered cocktails in the world.
