Savory and spicy — ripe tomato and tangy Worcestershire laced with chili heat, grounded by the peppery bite of blanco tequila.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Blanco Tequila
  • 4 oz Tomato Juice
  • 0.5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 3 dashes Hot Sauce
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • Celery stalk · optional garnish
  • a lime wedge · optional garnish

Method

  1. 1

Add all ingredients to an ice-filled highball glass.

  2. 2

Roll gently between two glasses to combine without flattening the juice.

  3. 3

    Taste and adjust the seasoning.

  4. 4

Garnish with a celery stalk and a lime wedge.

The Story

The Bloody Maria swaps vodka for tequila, giving the brunch classic an earthy, vegetal lift that plays off the tomato and spice far better than a neutral spirit. It's the definitive morning-after cure across Mexico and the American Southwest.
