Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 1.5 oz Sloe Gin
  • Maraschino cherry · optional garnish

Method

    Add the rye and sloe gin to a mixing glass with ice.

    Stir until well-chilled, about 20-30 seconds.

    Strain into a chilled coupe.

    Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

The Story

The Black Hawk is a short, two-ingredient drink of whiskey and sloe gin that appears in vintage bar books. Sloe gin is a sweet, plum-like liqueur, and it gives the rye a fruity, slightly tart partner.
